Wilson girls down rival Newfane
Having already locked up the title, Wilson downed rival Newfane 42-33 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball make-up game.
Bella Lemke scored a game high 20 points and Julia Faery added 12 to lead the way for Wilson which improves to 10-0.
Hannah Hambruch scored 9 and Rachel Chunco 8 for 6-5 Newfane which was playing its seventh game in the last eight days. The very busy schedule was the result having to play several makeup games following an early season Covid-19 related pause
Breaking away from a 19-19 halftime deadlock, Wilson held a narrow 32-28 advantage at the three-quarter mark. The Lakewomen then used a 10-5 scoring edge in the final stanza to claim the win.
The N-O season will conclude on Thursday with Medina at Wilson, Newfane at Akron and Albion at Roy-Hart.
