Williamsville North girls down Medina

Building up a 16 point half-time advantage, host Williamsville North went on to defeat Medina 47-33 this afternoon in the Mustangs non league season opening girls basketball game.

Up 14-6 after one period, Williamsville North increased its advantage to 24-8 at the half and 42-17 at the three-quarter mark after an 18-9 third period scoring edge.

Audrey Craffey led Will North with a game high 16 points including four threes.

Je’ne Brown led Medina with 15 as Camri King added 8, Malayeh Brewer 6 and Faith Henning 4.

“They were good,” said New Medina Coach Larry Lash. “They are a tough opponent and we’re trying to schedule tough opponents. That helps gives us a good picture of where we are and helps us get better.”

Medina will next host Health Sciences in another non league game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Newfane wins Maryvale Tournament
Newfane defeated the host Lady Flyers 60-41 this afternoon in the championship game of the Maryvale Tournament.

Tourney MVP Paige Emborsky scored 26 to lead the way for Newfane as Emily Geer added 13 and Alexa Littman 12.
