Wildcats best Tigers in G-R season opener

Plagued by a costly combination of cold shooting and turnovers, Lyndonville dropped a 67-32 decision to visiting Wheatland-Chili this evening in the Genesee Region League boys basketball season opener.

Aaron Lund poured in a game high 24 points and Leighton Williams tallied 13 to lead the way for W-C.

Lund scored 10 points in the opening period to help spark the Wildcats out to a 17-8 lead and Williams netted 8 in the second stanza to help boost the advantage to 37-15 at the half.

W-C maintained a commanding 53-25 lead at the three-quarter mark as Brendan Moore scored 7 and Lund 6 in the third period.

Roman Heinsler scored 10, Noah Poler 9, Ian Mank and Asa Wooton 5 each and Jacob Wilson 3 for the Tigers which were hampered by 9 of 52 field goal shooting and 17 turnovers.

Lyndonville next visits Barker next Monday.
