White Birch and Banes win softball openers

Medina Women’s Softball League ‘A’ Division action got underway Monday evening as White Birch downed Bane’s 12-10 and Bane’s topped Parkitects 15-1.

White Birch 12, Banes 10

White Birch bunched 9 of its 17 hits into a big two out 9 run fifth inning scoring burst to key the win over Banes.

Ella Lewis had a double and a home run, Dana Siffringer and Kenzi Muck 2 singles and a double, Maddy Boyle, Anna Lewis, Brynn Howell and Stacy Buckland two hits each and Mallory Albone and Rebekah Hoffee 1 single each for White Birch.

Banes had a big 8 run first inning including 2 hits by both Connie Heschke and Lindsay Chatt, doubles by Jami Chatt and Amy Lavender and singles by Kathy Allen and Patti Page.

Lavender and Morgan Allis both finished with 3 hits and Jami Chatt 2. Allis’ hits included a pair of solo home runs.

Banes 15, Parkitects 1

Trailing 1-0, Banes took the lead for good in the bottom of the first on a two-run triple by Allen.

Banes then broke the game wide open with 10 runs in the second inning on a home run and a single by Rileigh McCabe and singles by Robin Blaun, Heschke, Lindsay Chatt, Jami Chatt, Allen and Lavender.

Jami Chatt finished with 3 hits as McCabe and Allen both had 2.
