Westfield ousts Barker in Class C semi

A quick three run first inning scoring burst sparked No. 5 seed Westfield to a 7-1 win over top seeded Barker in a Section VI Class C semifinal round softball playoff game at Barker this afternoon.
A single, two walks, an error and a fielders choice play plated the decisive opening inning runs for Westfield which went on to up the advantage to 7-0 with solo runs in the second and fourth frames and two in the third.
Barker’s lone run came on an RBI single by Arnie Sturtevant in the fifth inning.
Westfield pitcher Eva Gradzinski limited Barker to just 2 hits and struck out 7.
