The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a special weather statement for Orleans County until 5 p.m. today, warning that areas of snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility across the Niagara Frontier at times through the evening commute.

Scattered moderate to heavy snow showers will continue to traverse across the Niagara Frontier right through the evening commute, the Weather Service said. Visibility will be reduced to a quarter mile at times due to the combination of snow and blowing snow with winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour.

“Drivers are urged to be alert for rapidly changing driving conditions over a very short distance,” the Weather Service said.
