Weather Service warns of beach hazards due to strong currents

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Beach Hazards Statement from 8 p.m. today until 6 a.m. on Monday.

Strong currents and dangerous swimming conditions are expected at beaches in Niagara, Orleans and Monroe counties. People are encouraged to stay out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions.

Today is forecast for a high of 84 in Orleans County with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Monday is forecast for a high of 80 with a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m.

On Tuesday there will be a high near 78 with showers likely and thunderstorms also possible after 1 p.m.
