A late comeback bid fell just short as No. 3 seed Kendall dropped a narrow 4-2 decision to visiting No. 6 Warsaw this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section V Class C2 baseball playoffs.

Trailing 4-0, Kendall rallied for two runs with no outs in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Reuben Marquess and a wild pitch after an error, a double by Louis Conte and a walk had loaded the bases.

However, the Eagles left runners stranded on second and third as an infield pop fly and two strikeouts ended the rally.

Kendall did get a runner to second with no outs in the top of the seventh but couldn’t capitalize as a strikeout followed by two fly ball outs locked up the win for Warsaw.

Warsaw scored once in the third inning on a bases loaded walk and then three times in the third on a double by Patrick Klump, a single by winning pitcher Ty Joy and a wild pitch.

Joy pitched the first five innings allowing no hits with 6 strikeouts. Tigers relief hurler Lucas Cornell registered two strikeouts to get out of the sixth inning jam.
