Vets, St. Mary’s open Albion Midget League playoffs with exciting walk off hit wins

Vets and St. Mary’s both scored exciting walk off hit victories this evening to open the Albion Midget League playoffs. Vets nipped Carlton 5-4 and St. Mary’s trimmed Rotary 6-5.

Bobby Dysard belted a walk off home run in the seventh inning to give Vets the win. He had a total of 4 hits on the evening and also pitched the seventh inning.

Adrian Kingdollar hurled the first six frames for Vets and also banged out a two-run double.

Brandon Nashburn added 2 hits and Luke Cornick an RBI single for Vets.

Carlton tied the game at 4-4 on a two-run homer by Bryce Wilson in the sixth inning.

St. Mary’s likewise scored a dramatic win on a two-run walk off triple by Jayce Ashton.

Ashton also pitched the complete game for St. Mary’s, striking out 15 batters.

St. Mary’s jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on a 2-run double by Reuben Rivers, with Ashton then following with an RBI single.

Rotary tied the game at 3 in the fourth with a triple by Simon Ellison the big hit.

Rotary had grabbed a 5-4 lead in the fifth on an RBI hit by Mason Bennett.

Thursday’s semifinals will now have Vets at top seeded Barre and St. Mary’s at No. 2 Sandstone.
