Vets Park project is taking shape
Photos by Mike Wertman – Medina’s Vets Park continues to be a beehive of construction activity as the project to install a new artificial turf surface moves forward. With installation of the new drainage system nearly completed work has now begun on leveling the field. In the background two bulldozers here spread gravel and a roller readies another section as part of that work. Once the field is leveled a shock pad will be installed before the new artificial turf surface is laid down.
Shown here at the right are the posts for the new video scoreboard and for the baseball backstop that have been installed at the east end of the park. This Phase 1 of a two year project is scheduled to be competed in September. Phase 2 in 2018 will see a new grandstand installed on the south side of the field on land purchased by the school district.
