Boasting good experience at all positions, Albion is looking to move up and contend for top Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer honors this season.

Albion, which ended a three year run in the N-O basement by posting a 3-6-1 record last fall, returns 11 players from that building season.

That veteran contingent includes seniors Mark Ames (Goalie), Jason Anstey (Midfield), Alonzo Figueroa-Fuentes (Forward), Kevin He (Midfield), Finn McCue (Forward), Flynn Morrison (Defender), Ben O’Connor (Defender) and Dom Mulka (Defender) along with juniors Adrian Figueroa-Fuentes (Goalie) and David Rosario-Soto (Midfield) and sophomore Pablo Rosario-Reyes (Midfield).

McCue, Rosario-Soto and Rosario-Reyes were second team N-O All-League selections and Figueroa-Fuentes an Honorable Mention pick. McCue and Rosario-Reyes each scored 6 goals.

“Our expectations are high,” said Coach Bridgette Varin. “We’ve got a real good group back and we should be competing for the league.”

Albion will begin tuning up for the N-O season by facing CG Finney in the opening round of the Wheatland-Chili Tournament on August 31. The Purple Eagles league opener is at Akron on September 7.
