Underclassmen head N-O All-League girls basketball squad

Underclassmen have earned four of the five spots on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League girls basketball squad.

Two juniors who helped lead Wilson to a seventh straight N-O title, Rachel Senek and Kayla Neumann, head that youthful quartet which also includes Albion junior Chanyce Powell and Newfane sophomore Paige Emborsky.

Barker’s Caityn Mason, the only senior in the quintet, rounds out the first team.

Senek, Neumann and Powell are all repeat selections while Emborsky and Mason were both second team honorees last year.

Senek scored 317 points on the season for a 14.4 average. She also grabbed off 135 rebounds and had 110 assists and 98 steals.

Newmann scored 234 points (11.7 ave.) and had 105 rebounds, 122 steals and 78 assists.

Powell led Albion in both scoring with 205 points (16.0 ave) and on the boards with 201 rebounds. She also had 65 steals and 47 assists.

Emborky scored 329 points (14.9 ave.) and had 89 rebounds, 79 assists and 54 steals.

Mason led Barker with 248 points (11.8 ave.) and also had 98 rebounds 62 steals and 28 assists.

Five schools are represented on the All-League second team which includes Wilson senior Serina Jaeger, Newfane sophomore Emily Foltz, Roy-Hart senior Emma Lindke, Medina freshman Je’ne Brown and CSAT senior Surenaty David-Patterson.

Jaeger scored 186 points (8.4 ave.) and had 158 rebounds, 109 steals and 50 assists.

Foltz had 231 points (10.5 ave.), 141 steals, 116 rebounds and 63 assists.

Lindke tallied 208 points (10.4 ave.) and had 147 rebounds, 29 assists and 25 steals.

Brown led Medina in both scoring with 261 points (13.0 ave.) and on the boards with 193 rebounds. She also had 42 blocks and 22 steals.

Davis-Patterson scored 209 points (10.4 ave.) and grabbed off 161 rebounds.

Wilson also had a quartet of players earn All-League honorable mention including seniors Jodie Vincent and Zipporah Barrett, junior Jen Darlak and sophomore Shea Munnikhuysen.

Medina juniors Molley Gross and Maddie Winters have also earned honorable mention along with Barker senior Lindsey Williams, Roy-Hart sophomore Ellie Todd, CSAT senior Chelsea Carrier, Newfane senior Katie Kneeland and junior Olivia Littman and Akron sophomore Neely Abrams and senior Ashley Mietz.
