Underclassmen dominate annual G-R girls All-Star basketball team

Nine of the 12 players on the annual Genesee Region League girls basketball All-Star team are underclassmen headed by the Elba sophomore quartet of Leah Bezon, Brynn Walczack, Maddie Muelig and Taylor Augello.

The only seniors are Callie McCulley and Stevie Wilcox from Notre Dame and Taylor Gadd from Attica. McCulley was named G-R Player of the Year as she scored 426 points (21.3 average) and grabbed off 249 rebounds.

The All-Star team also includes freshman Kelsey Schlagenoff and junior Brianna Smith from Oakfield-Albama along with Alexander sophomore Hailee Kramer, Pembroke junior Dekari Moss and Wheatland-Chili junior Jenna LaMere.

A quartet of Orleans County players have earned Honorable Mention on the All-Star squad including senior Maddy Marsh and junior Olivia Radford from Holley, junior Brittney Marks from Kendall and senior Alecia Hinkson from Lyndonville.

Marsh scored 195 points (9.7 ave.) and had 229 rebounds and Radford scored 199 points (9.8 ave) and had 48 steals.

Marks 134 points (6.7 ave.) and 124 rebounds and Hinkson 220 points (10.0 ave.) and 160 rebounds.
