U16 Anjo Bombers win exciting opener
The AnJo Bombers 16U and Clarence Red Raiders 15U matched up in an exciting back-and-forth game in a Clarence League opener Sunday that saw the Bombers come away with a 21-18 victory.
The Bombers trailed 18-17 in the top of the seventh inning when Karl Darling singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
Darling went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs on a single in the third, a fielder’s choice in the sixth, and a single in the seventh.
Clarence tied the game at 10-10 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sean Andrews singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
The Bombers notched seven runs in the sixth inning. Darling, AJ Seefeldt, Thomas Furmanski, Isaiah Callicutt, and Carson Tatro all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Darling pitched the first two innings, allowing 4 hits and four runs while striking out 5. Tatro closed out the game picking up the win with 2 Ks and no earned runs.
The Bombers had 20 hits in the game. Tatro, Seefeldt, Cade Littman, Darling, Callicutt, and Furmanski all had multiple hits. Callicutt, Darling, Littman, Seefeldt, and Tatro each had three hits.
Clarence Red Raiders 15U racked up 12 hits in the game.
