U14 Fillies rally to win opener in thriller

Putting together a dramatic last inning rally, the Medina U14 Fillies opened the Metro Softball League season with a narrow 6-5 victory over the Amherst Sandlot Storm this evening at Vets Park.

A three-run home run by Ryenn Oliver capped off the Fillies four run rally in the bottom of the seventh as the Fillies erased a 5-2 deficit.

Singles by Emily Murphy and Katie Baker ignited the comeback. Baker’s hit drove in the first run.

Earlier, the Fillies scored once in the fourth on a passed ball and once in the sixth on a home run by Natalie Bigelow.

Winning pitcher Jacquiline Guzdek struck out five.

Lou Gehrig Blue 8, Medina Fillies 1
The Medina U12 Fillies dropped a 8-1 decision to the Lou Gehrig Blue team this evening at Butts Park.

Libby Cook, Ashley Howell and Camri King all had hits for the Fillies.

Cora Payne pitched the first three innings for the Fillies striking out six and Lacey Kenward hurled the final four frames fanning three.
