Unable to hold an early three run lead, the Medina U14 Fillies dropped a 7-4 decision to Sandlot of Amherst Wednesday night at Vets Park in the opening round of the Metro Girls Softball League playoffs.

Medina scored two quick runs in the first inning highlighted by a bunt single by Natalie Bigelow.

Singles by Emily Murphy and Kennedy Lampart helped to plate another run in the second inning for a 3-0 Fillies lead.

However, Sandlot rallied to first tie the game with three runs in the fourth inning and then to take the lead for good with four more tallies in the fifth on a two-run double and a two-run error.

On Monday, the Fillies lost 20-10 at Amherst in a regular season ending makeup game.

Kaydi Baker had two doubles for the Fillies which did hold an 8-7 lead.

The Fillies will be participating in the Mel Ott Tournament this weekend at Amherst.
