Unable to rebound from a turnover plagued first half, Kendall dropped a 54-42 decision to host Elba in a Genesee Region League game this evening.

Elba jumped out to an 18-12 first quarter lead as Hailie Deville scored 6 points and Dakota Brinkman, Kennedy Augello and Sydney Reilly each chipped in with a three.

The Lady Lancers then used a 16-5 second period scoring edge, including 7 by Laci Sewar, to extend the lead to 17, 34-17, at the half.

Elba opened up as much as a 25 point, 42-17, advantage at the outset of the third period after a three-point play by Sewar and a three by Augello.

Kendall did answer back with a 13-0 run to close the period, including 7 by Alezya Brown and 4 by Libby Snyder, to cut the deficit to 12, 42-30, but the Lady Eagles could get no closer.

Elba quickly moved back out to a 15 point, 47-32, lead at the outset of the final period after a five point run by Brinkman, and Kendall could get no closer than 12 after that.

Brinkman finished with a game high 18, Sewar 12, Augello 10 and Deville 8 to lead Elba.

Brown tallied 16 and Snyder 15 to pace Kendall.

Elba improves to 7-4 and Kendall slips to 10-2.

School closings cause many postponements

Another G-R girls game, Lyndonville at Oakfield-Alabama, was postponed as Lyndonville was closed due to Monday’s snowstorm.

School closings also wiped out the Niagara-Orleans League’s entire slate of basketball games and swim meets.

The boys and girls basketball games included Albion vs. Barker, Roy-Hart vs. Akron and Newfane vs. Wilson. The swim meets had Roy-Hart vs. Medina, Albion vs. Newfane and Akron vs. Barker. The Roy-Hart/Barker at Medina make-up wrestling match was also postponed.

Two of the swim meets have been re-scheduled for Saturday with Albion facing Newfane at 10 a.m. and Medina hosting Roy-Hart at 1 p.m.

In addition, Wednesday’s scheduled Akron at Medina N-O wrestling match has been moved to Thursday at Akron at 6 p.m. where it will be a tri-meet with Roy-Hart/Barker.
