A late comeback bid fell just short as No. 9 Medina dropped a narrow 10-9 decision to host No. 8 Southwestern this afternoon in the opening round of the Section VI Class B2 baseball playoffs.

Trailing 10-1, Medina erupted for 8 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to slice the deficit just 1 on a two-run homer by Brett Riemer, a three-run double by Nate Sherman and a pair of RBI singles by Brendan Luthart.

However, the Mustangs could not pull even as 3 strikeouts in the seventh inning quickly ended the comeback bid.

Riemer, Luthart and Alex Allis each had a pair of hits on the day for the Mustangs.

Nate Fox pitched a 5 hitter with 5 strikeouts to lead No. 6 Wilson past No. 11 JFK in another B2 contest.

Fox also banged out a pair of hits, including a two-run triple.

Tanner Seeley also had 3 hits for the Lakemen as Jonah Miller, Justin Daul and John Bender each added 2.
