Southwestern now visits No. 9 seed Roy-Hart at 7 p.m. Tuesday in what will also be a rematch from last year’s sectionals. In that contest the Trojans downed the host Rams 60-34.

Matthew Pannes scored a game high 20 points while Jaydon Work netted 12 and Chris Miller 10 to spark Southwestern which held leads of 15-7 after the first quarter, 30-10 at the half and 49-18 after three quarters.

Aiden Pitts, who was the only senior among the nine players Medina had on hand for the contest, led the Mustangs with 13. Sophomore Cole Callard and eighth grader Preston Woodworth each added 5, freshman Trevon Shine 4, junior Roosevelt Mitchell 2 and junior Jason Beyer 1.

The Mustangs youthful lineup also included freshman Christian Moss along with juniors Alex Benz and Jack Cecchini. Another junior, Justin Pitts, was injured and unable to play. Shine, Woodworth and Moss are recent call ups from the JV squad.

Southwestern advances with a 10-11 record while Medina finishes at 4-17.
