A first inning run proved to be the game winner as Alexander trimmed host Lyndonville 2-0 this afternoon in the Tigers Genesee Region League season opener.

In another G-R opener, Holley romped past host Pembroke 18-4.

Alexander pitcher Donald Donnelly helped himself by driving in that first inning run with a two-out single.

The Trojans later added an insurance run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Matt Friday.

On the mound, Donnelly allowed 3 hits and struck out 7 over the seven inning.

Lyndonville hurler Trenton Muck gave up 4 hits and struck out 9 over the first six innings.

Lyndonville did get the bases loaded in the second inning on a single by Maddox Stirk followed by two walks but the Trojans got out of the jam on an inning ending infield pop out.

Later, the Tigers got two runners aboard with two out in the seventh on a walk and an error but Donnelly registered a clutch strikeout to end the threat and the game.

Holley 18, Pembroke 4
Broek Ostrom pitched a 4 hitter with 6 strikeouts and also banged out a double in Holley’s victory at Pembroke.

Zach Milner, Kaden Brady and Nick Mandigo each had a pair of hits for the Hawks which put a lock on the victory with a marathon nine run fourth inning.
