Tri County scores weekend hockey sweep
The Tri County Midget hockey team scored a pair of victories this weekend, 10-1 over Monroe County on Saturday and 6-2 over Webster today, to stay unbeaten at 10-0-2.
Tri County jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead over Monroe County on two goals by Patrick Ricker and one by Nico Weber.
Two goals by Matt Nielson and one by John Pilon in the second period doubled the advantage to 6-0.
Nielson then scored two more goals in the final period as Pilon and Josh Gimeli each added one.
Today’s game was closer as Tri County broke away from a 2-2 deadlock with four unanswered third period goals, two by Jake Esposito and one each by Chase Froman and Ricker, to lock up the victory over host Webster.
Earlier in the game, which was deadlocked 1-1 after the opening period, Pilon tallied in the opening stanza and Nielson in the second period for Tri County.
