Tri County icers win league opener

The Tri County Golden Eagles Bantam Travel Team opened Western New York Amateur Hockey League competition today with a narrow 4-3 victory over the host Jamestown Lakers.

Tri County jumped out to a 2-1 first period lead on Jeramiah Rausch’s fifth and sixth goals of the season.

Jake Esposito upped the Golden Eagles lead to 3-1 in the third period with his third goal of the season.

The Lakers cut the deficit to 3-2 but Tri County answered with Michael Holdings’s fifth goal of the season for what proved to be the game winning tally.

Tucker Johnson also had a strong game in goal for the Golden Eagles.

Now at 2-3 overall, Tri County next hosts West Seneca on October 15 at SUNY Brockport.
