Tri County icers win regular season finale
Getting goal production from seven different players the Tri County Midget hockey team romped to an 11-0 victory over the host Rochester Youth team today in the regular season finale.
Matt Neilson, Patrick Ricker, Victor Benjovski and Tucker Trask each scored two goals for Tri County as John Pilon, Luke Grabb and Jake Donoghue each added one.
Tri County built up leads of 4-0 after the first period and 9-0 after the second.
Nate Wildrick earned the shutout in goal.
On Saturday, Tri County was unable to overcome a 5-0 first period deficit and dropped a 7-4 decision to Batavia.
James Hapeman scored in the second period and Donoghue, Neilson and Trask netted consecutive goals in the third to cut the deficit to 6-4 but Tri County could get no closer.
Tri County, which finishes the regular season at 5-12-3, begins playoff competition on February 24.
