Tri County hockey team has three win weekend to retain regular season title

The Tri County Midget Division Yellow team scored a trio of victories this weekend to repeat as Empire Amateur Hockey League regular season division champions.

Tri County opened the busy weekend with a 5-0win over Rochester Chatterton on Friday.

Tri County jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Josh Wood and Patrick Ricker who also tallied in the second period. Third period goals by Ryan Wells and Chase Froman then capped off the win.

John Pilon earned the shutout in goal.

On Saturday, Tri County rebounded from an early 4-2 deficit to defeat Rochester Mackenzie 9-4.

Five second period goals including two by Ricker and one each by Corey Granby, Cam Smith and Froman erased that deficit. Two third period goals by Wells then locked up the win. Ricker and Grant Moy also scored in the first period.

Tri County completed its weekend sweep by downing Rochester Chatterton 9-1 today.

Ricker scored two goals in each of the first two periods and James Hapeman and Ian McGraw each netted one during that stretch to put Tri County in control 6-0. Froman added two goals in the third period and Ricker one.

Hayden Watt earned the win in goal.

Tri County finishes the regular season at 18-1-1 in the league and 23-2-2 overall.
