Tornado warning until 7 p.m. for Orleans, Niagara and Genesee
A tornado warning is in effect for Orleans, Niagara and Genesee counties until 7 p.m.
The National Weather Service said the affected areas include east central Niagara County, Orleans County and northwestern Genesee County.
“At 6:28 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Middleport, or near Medina, moving southeast at 35 mph,” the Weather Service said.
Locations impacted include Medina, Albion, Middleport, Oakfield, Holley, Ridgeway, Shelby, Clarendon, Gaines and Alabama.
“Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter,” the Weather Service said. “Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.”
