Young Explosives put on the show which was part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the Cornell Cooperative Extension in New York. There will be another fireworks show at the fair tonight at 10.

The Orleans County Genealogical Society is recording fair memories this week. Joann Baxter, right, talked about hosting two exchange students from Japan through a 4-H program. Baxter’s daughter, Carrie, also spent a year in Japan through the program. Doug Pratt is recording the stories and Holly Canham, president of the Genealogical Society, is leading the effort. The Genealogical Society welcomes people to stop by the Buzz Hill Education Center from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday to share their fair memories.

Hudson’s Magic Midway is back at the fair this week. It features 50 grand-scale reproductions of carnival rides, showing an evolution of carnival rides from the 1950s to the most recent ones. Hudson Midway Magic was created by Jay Pahura and Charlie Zicari of Albion. They followed Harold Hudson, who initially created large-scale model rides of carnival attractions. Hudson created rides for more than 30 years. The rides are illuminated and show a history of amusement park attractions. The rides are all fully operational on a small scale. Zicari and Pahura added information tablets talking about the history of rides and reproductions, and also included lasers inside.
