Ballots won’t be counted until June 16

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this article said today was the deadline to vote in the school elections and the budget and district referendums. It is the deadline to turn in ballots in person at the district offices.

But residents still have time to mail in ballots. They will be counted as long as they are received by 5 p.m. on June 16.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday pushed back the time frame, allowing ballots to be received by June 16. That is the day the school districts will be counting the ballots.

Many of the districts will have separate election inspectors to open the envelopes and then other inspectors to unfold ballots and count them to maintain voter privacy.
