Tigers to open at North Country tourney
The local high school Winter sports season will tip-off this weekend as the Lyndonville boys basketball team travels to the North County to play in the Lafargeville Tournament.
The Tigers will play the host school in Friday’s opening round as the championship and consolation games will be Saturday.
It will be a bit of a Homecoming for Lyndonville Coach Rich Augustus who previously coached at Lafargeville which is north of Watertown.
Anchoring the Lyndonville lineup will be the veteran trio of senior Jacob Pitcher, junior Colton Smith and sophmore Quincy McClinsey along with junior Juan Alberdi, an exchange student from Spain, and sophomore Lane Woodworth who is up from the JV ranks.
The Tigers home opener will be on December 7 against Houghton and the Genesee Region League opener on December 11 at Wheatland-Chili.
