Lyndonville will host Section V Class B3 wrestling tournament on Saturday
A total of 15 teams are scheduled to participate in the Section V Class B3 wrestling tournament at Lyndonville on Saturday.
In addition to the host Tigers the tourney field will include defending champion South Seneca, Bolivar-Richburg, which claimed the title in both 2019 and 2020, Perry, Alfred-Almond, Arkport-Canaseraga, Avoca-Hammondsport, Caledonia-Mumford, Campbell-Savona, Bradford-Dundee, Fillmore, Gilead, Keshequa, Lyons and Red Jacket.
Lyndonville, which repeated as Genesee Region League champions, has featured a deep lineup this season led by Maddox Stirk (189) and Sebastian Temich (177) who have both posted 32-6 records, Sam Doolan (285) 30-9, Christian Garver (118) 29-7, Payton Grabowski (189) 29-8, Noah Neff (152) 29-10, Shayne Nickerson (110) (26-12), Ty Holmes (126) 25-8, and Allan Heideman (285) 21-8
“I think South Seneca, Bolivar-Richburg and Perry will be the top contenders coming in but we’re hoping to be right in the mix,” said Jim Zeliff who co-coaches Lyndonville with Joey Suhr. “I think this is the first time Lyndonville has hosted the sectionals and we would definitely like to win it. We look to be the only team with a full lineup so that will be a big advantage for us.”
Wrestling is expected to begin between 9:30 and 10 a.m.
