Tigers to host HAC in sectional quarterfinal

No. 2 seeded Lyndonville will host No. 7 Harley-Allendale-Columbia at 7 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinal round of the Section V Class C3 boys basketball playoffs.

Lyndonville, which posted a 17-3 regular season record, earned a bye into the quarterfinals while HAC, which is 10-11, nipped No. 10 Bolivar-Richburg 50-49 in the opening round to advance.

The contest will be a rematch of last year’s opening round which saw Lyndonville edge past HAC 58-57.

The Tigers have featured a balanced attack this season with four players currently averaging in double figures. That quartet  includes Zach Johnson who has scored 284 points for a 14.4 average, Nathan Dillenbeck 272 points for a 13.6 ave., Nathan Hydock 257 points for a 12.8 ave. and Nathan Poler  229 points for a 11.7 ave.

The victor will face the winner of the No. 6 Pavilion vs. No. 3 York quarterfinal in the semifinals on Monday.

The other two Class C3 quarterfinals will have No. 8 Clyde-Savannah (6-15) at No. 1 Caledonia-Mumford (19-1) and No. 5 Oakfield-Alabama (12-9) at No. 4 Naples (13-8).
