A marathon early inning scoring burst provided the lead but steady rain caused an early halt to Lyndonville’s non league season opening baseball game against visiting Lima Christian this afternoon.

Lyndonville exploded for 11 runs in the second inning to take an 11-2 lead in the contest which was suspended by the persistent rain midway through the fourth frame.

A three-run double by Jacob Hoffee along with a two-run single and an RBI single by Evan Milleville highlighted the huge inning for the Tigers.

Chris Scroger started on the mound for Lyndonville which is now scheduled to host Barker in a non league game at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Barker and Akron also got in two innings of their softball game at Barker before rain halted play.

The late afternoon rain washed out the rest of the day’s schedule including the Roy-Hart at Medina, Albion at Wilson and Newfane at CSAT baseball games; the Wilson at Albion, Newfane at CSAT, Kendall at Pembroke, Wheatland-Chili at Lyndonville and Byron-Bergen at Holley softball contests and the Byron-Bergen at Holley, Kendall at Elba, Barker at Albion and Medina at Akron tennis matches.
