Building up an early 6-0 lead, Akron went on to thump host Albion 19-4 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League game.

Akron scored twice in each of the first three innings to take the 6-0 lead as Adam Mietz, Brandon Orr, David Kalinowski and Nick Pietrowski all banged out run producing hits during that stretch.

Albion did cut the deficit to 6-4 by scoring four times in the fifth inning on a two-run double by Bryce Pritchard, and RBI single by Rylend Callicutt and a fielders choice play off the bat of Liam Ward.

However, the Purple Eagles would get no closer as the Tigers answered right back with a huge  8 run sixth inning scoring burst to break the contest wide open. A two-run double by Pietrowski along with RBI doubles by Orr and Mietz highlighted that uprising which upped the lead to 14-4.

Orr finished with a total of 4 hits and Mietz 3.

Thomas Furmanski and Michael DiCureia both had 2 for Albion.

Mitchell Holtz went the distance on the mound for the Tigers allowing 7 hits and striking out 7.

Akron is now 4-3 and Albion 3-4 in N-O action.
