Tigers, Mustangs post diamond wins

Staying undefeated, Lyndonville blanked visiting Holley 9-0 this afternoon to improve to 5-0 in Genesee Region League competition and 7-0 overall.

Medina rolled past host Barker 12-2 to improve to 3-2 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition.

Justin Edwards went the distance on the mound for Lyndonville hurling a three hit shutout with 8 strikeouts. He also helped himself out a the plate by banging out three hits.

Trevor Bentley added two hits for the Tigers.

Lyndonville took charge at the outset scoring five quick runs in the first inning as Edwards, Bentley and AJ Buckland all had hits.

Matt Riemer pitched the first five innings for Medina allowing four hits and striking out five. Josh Scroger came on to hurl the final two frames and gave up two hits and struck out two.

Leading 2-0, Medina broke the game open with a five run third inning highlighted by a two-run single by Devonte Howard, a run producing double by Adam Hoot and three errors.

Brennan Zinkievich later had a two-run single for the Mustangs in the seventh inning.

Hoot had a total of three hits, including two doubles, as Shane Freeman also banged out three base raps and Zinkievich two.

Alonzo St. Louis had two doubles and Jacob Meister a single and double for Barker which slips to 2-3.

In other N-O action, Roy Hart beat Wilson 11-4 as Andy Jacobs, C.J. Fitch and Aaron Metz combined to throw a 3 hitter.

The Rams pounded out a total of 15 hits including three each by John O’Brien and Fitch along with two each by Austin Heschke and Andy Xapsos, who had a double among his hits.

Roy-Hart is now 3-1 in N-O action.
