Tigers down Bees in Class C3 opener

Avenging a regular season ending loss, No. 8 seed Lyndonville bested visiting No. 9 Byron-Bergen 4-1 this afternoon in the opening round of the Section V Class C3 playoffs.

The Tigers scored the only two runs they needed as it turned out in the first inning on RBI singles by winning pitcher Roman Heinsler and Maddox Stirk.

Lyndonville later added solo runs in the third inning on a fielders choice play off the bat of Payton Grabowski and one in the sixth on an RBI single by Jack Whipple.

Heinsler, Stirk and Trenton Muck each finished with 2 hits.

On the mound, Heinsler allowed 3 hits and struck out 7 in six and one-third innings of work. Muck came on to get the final two outs on just three pitches.

Lyndonville next faces top seeded Bolivar-Richburg at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Keshequa.

In a Class C2 contest, No. 7 Alexander downed visiting No. 10 Holley 14-1.
