Amid snow flurries in the air and a chilly, brisk breeze, defending Divison 2 champion Lyndonville got the Genesee Region League baseball season underway this afternoon with a 9-5 victory over visiting Kendall.

Jacob Hoffee picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers scattering 5 hits and striking out 10 in six innings of work on the mound.

Chris Scroger and Trevor Bentley both had two hits to lead the Lyndonville attack.

Kendall did grab a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single by Justin Barrett and an RBI double by Cody Spellan. However, Hoffee bore down to get out of the bases loaded jam by registering three straight strikeouts.

Keeping the momentum, the Lyndonville offense put four runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first on a two-run single by Scroger and a two run error to take the lead for good. Three walks loaded the bases to set up the threat.

The Tigers went on to build the lead to 9-1 by scoring twice in the second on a pair of errors, twice in the fifth on an error and a sacrifice fly by AJ Buckland and once in the sixth on a single by Scroger. Eric Neace, Mike Wells and Bentley also all had singles in the fifth.

Kendall did rally for three runs in the seventh on a single by Barrett, four walks and an error but the Eagles left the bases loaded. Barrett had a total of three hits and Spellan two.
