Tiger matmen win opener

LYNDONVILLE – Six pins sparked Lyndonville to a 48-33 victory over Barker/Roy-Hart this evening in the Tigers non league season opener.

Tony Recco (113), Dustin Joy (138), Alex Murphy (145), Devon Joy (152), Dawson Joy (195) and Frank Carisquilla (285) all registered pins for Lyndonville.

Leading by a narrow 24-21 margin, Lyndonville broke the match open for good on a decision win by Chris McDonald (132) followed by consecutive first period pins by Dustin Joy in 1:40, Murphy in 1:24 and Devin Joy in 59 seconds and a decision win by Tom Follman (160).

A lightning quick pin in 15 seconds by Carisquilla, along with second period falls by Dawson Joy and Recco, sparked Lyndonville out to an early 24-12 lead.

Barker/Roy-Hart did cut the deficit to 24-21 after a second period pin by Tyler Choate (106) but could get no closer.

Cameron Swick (126) also had a decision win for Barker/Roy-Hart.
