Tiger matmen prep to defend B3 sectional title

Anchored by a nucleus of five returning place finishers, Lyndonville will begin prepping to defend its Section V Class B3 wrestling title by competing in the Byron-Bergen Tournament on Saturday.
The Tigers veteran quintet includes seniors Sebastian Temich (190) and Patrick Hargravs (215), junior Ty Holmes (131) and freshmen Brody Hazel (145) and Shannon Withey (138).
Temich, who had 37 regular season wins, and Holmes both earned first place finishes at the Section V B3 Tournament while Hazel placed fourth, Hargrave fifth and Withey sixth.
The Tigers graduation losses included B3 champion Payton Grabowski and runners-up Christian Garver, Sam Doolan and Chyenne Tackley.
The B-B Tourney begins a busy month of December for the Tigers who are co-coached by Joey Suhr and Jim Zeliff.
The Tigers will next host their own Fred Large Memorial Tournament on Dec. 9 and then visit Albion on Dec. 14, compete in the NCCC Tournament on Dec. 15 and 16, host Pavilion/York on Dec. 21 and take part in the Bolivar-Richburg Tournament on Dec. 28 and 29.
