Tiger matmen claim C-C tourney title

Going 5-0 on the day, Lyndonville captured top honors today at the Churchville-Chili Duals Tournament.

The Tigers defeated Perry 43-40, Irondequoit 36-31, Gates-Chili 60-6, Churchville-Chili 60-24 and North Rose-Wolcott 60-24 to capture the tourney championship.

“Our guys all wrestled very well today,” said Tigers Coach Jeff Gress.

Lyndonville’s Tony Recco, who went 5-0 , earned the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler award.

Jeff Gress Jr., Dustin Hinkley, Dustin Joy and Devon Joy also all went 5-0 on the day for Lyndonville.

The Tigers also had Garren Bayne, Chris McDonald, Tom Follman and Dawson Joy all go 4-1 and Cullen Heveron 3-2.

Medina at Batavia Tournament

Five Medina wrestlers placed at the Batavia Tournament today.

Charles Beach (195) placed second, Joe Velez (126) third, Hunter Kruger (113) and Ryan Kruger (220) fifth and Trevor Pittard (285) sixth. Beach, Hunter Kruger and Ryan Kruger all went 3-2 and Velez 2-2.

Orchard Park Tournament

Barker/Roy-Hart placed third at the Orchard Park Tournament.

Cameron Swick (145), who was voted the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler, Joe DiMayo (220) and Collin Anderson (285) all took first place honors for Barker/Roy-Hart which also had Brent Bachman (120), DJ Gardner (160) and Kirk Fay (285) all place second and Ryan Ulrich (138) and Jon Paige (182) third.
