Looking to keep the momentum after turning the corner last year by getting back onto the winning track, Lyndonville returns a solid nucleus of four starters.
The veteran quartet of senior Nick Hinkson and juniors Eric Neace, Eddie Schildt and Corey Hydock, lead the way for Lyndonville, which went 5-10 in Genesee Region League action and 8-13 overall last year to rebound from back-to-back winless campaigns the two years before.
Neace, who earned G-R League All-Star honors, scored 315 points (15.0 ave) and also grabbed off 130 rebounds. Hinkson, who earned G-R Honorable Mention, averaged 12 points.
“They did a fine job, gained a lot of valuable experience and now they’ve got a good year under their belts,” said Coach Lee Dillenbeck.
The Tigers roster also includes seniors Hunter Ottaviano, Paul Kurz and Kenny Kalson along with juniors Jacob Hoffee, Dylan Nicholson, Josh Tombari and freshman Zach Johnson.
“It should be an exciting year,” said Dillenbeck. “We’re not the biggest team and scoring will be the key for us. We want to push the ball and put points on the board and also defend better. We have to play as a team, share the ball and push the ball.”
Lyndonville opens the season with a non league hone game against Webster Christian on December 2 and then begins G-R competition against Kendall on December 4.
The Tigers season will also be highlighted by the participation in two local tournaments, at Roy-Hart on December 11-12 and at Holley on December 29-20.
