Tiger cagers defeat Dragons

A big third quarter helped spark Lyndonville to a 53-49 victory over visiting Pembroke this evening in a Genesee Region League game.

Leading by a narrow 25-21 margin at the half, Lyndonville put together a big 17-6 third period scoring surge to open up a 15 point, 42-27, advantage.

Eric Neace had seven points on a layup, a jumper and a three-point play to lead that uprising which also included a three-point play by Nick Hinkson and baskets by AJ Buckland, Eddie Schildt and Corey Hydock.

The Tigers maintained a 14 point, 52-38, lead with just under a minute to go after a 10-4 run which included buckets by Schoolcraft, Bucklnd, Schildt and Hinkson.

However, Pembroke made the finish exciting by scoring 11 quick points in the final 55 seconds on two threes and a jumper by Kyle Ludwig and a thee by Ryan Cansdale but the Dragons could get no closer than four.

Neace finished with 18 for Lyndonville as Schoolcraft added 9, Hinkson 8, Buckland and Hydock 7 and Schildt 4.

Ludwig shared game high honors with 18 and Cansdale 15 for Pembroke.

Lyndonville jumped out to a 16-12 first quarter lead as Schoolcraft netted 7 and Hydock 5.

Neace then scored all 9 of Lyndonville’s second quarter points to keep the Tigers up 25-21 at the half.

Lyndonville is now 2-1 in the league and 3-2 overall.

Park School 81, Medina 33
Roaring out to leads of 27-2 after one quarter and 46-12 at the half, Park School coasted to an 81-33 victory over visiting Medina in a non league game.

Brennan Zinkievich scored 8, Justin Morgan 7 and Jason Hellwig 6 for Medina.

Tonawanda 42, Roy-Hart 29
Avenging a home court loss last week, Tonawanda defeated host Roy-Hart 41-29 in a non league game.

Tonawanda jumped out to a 10-0 first quarter lead and went on to hold leads of 18-11 at the half and 26-21 at the three-quarter mark.

Andy Xapsos scored 11 and Chris Anderson and Justin Heschke 6 each for Roy-Hart which next visits CSAT Thursday in the Niagara-Orleans League opener.
