Tiger booters edge past Mustangs

Making a lone early goal stand up Akron edged past visiting Medina/Lyndonville 1-0 this afternoon in a rainy Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Jarrod Marsh scored the lone goal of the game in the first five minutes of the opening half for Akron which improves to 2-5 in N-O action.

Medina/Lyndonville, which slips to 3-3, had half a dozen corner opportunities and a direct kick in the second half but was unable to capitalize.

The Mustangs next host Niagara Catholic in a non league game at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lyndonville.

Newfane 4, Roy-Hart 1

Newfane moved ever closer to clinching a second straight N-O title by defeating visiting Roy-Hart 4-1 as the Panthers stay perfect at 7-0.

Mateo May and Jonny Costanzo both had a goal and an assist for Newfane as Caleb Russell and Max Weber each netted goals.
