Third period sparks Newfane girls to victory over Medina; B-B tops Kendall

Pulling away in the third quarter, Newfane went on to down Medina 55-44 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball make-up game this evening at Medina.
Leading by a narrow five point, 31-26, margin early in the third period, Newfane closed the quarter with a key 14-2 run to open up a 17 point, 45-28 advantage. Kameryn Boyer scored 6 and Sienna Bowers 4 to lead that uprising.
Medina could get no closer than 11 in the final period.
Newfane also got off to a quick start grabbed an 18-11 first quarter lead as Mallory Schultz scored 12, including a pair of threes, to key that surge.
The Lady Panthers maintained a seven point, 28-21, lead at the half as Bowers had 8 in the second period. Honest Hill likewise had 8 to keep Medina close.
Schultz finished with a game high 21 and Bowers 19 to pace the Lady Panthers as Boyer added 8, Julia Noonan 4, Bailee Patcyk 2 and Jenna Stolzenberg 1.
Hill finished with 10 to lead Medina as Iyla Lilleby and Nevaeh Moss added 8 apiece, Alexa Demmer 7, Ariel Smith 6 and Angel Mulcahy 5.
Newfane improves to 4-2 and Medina slips to 1-4.
Medina next hosts Roy-Hart at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in another N-O make-up contest.
Byron-Bergen 33, Kendall 28
Byron-Bergen trimmed host Kendall 33-28 in a Genesee Region League make-up game.
Janessa Amesbury had 14 for Byron-Bergen which led 15-13 at the half.
Danielle Offhaus paced Kendall with 12
