Third period sparks Mustangs past Lady Rams

Moving on top to stay with a late third quarter scoring burst, Medina went on to down visiting Roy-Hart 56-47 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball make-up game this evening.

Trailing 31-28, Medina put together a key 12-0 scoring run late in the third period, including 5 by Iyla Lilleby and a three-point play by Nevaeh Moss to really into the lead for good at 40-31.

Lilleby and Alexa Demmer both had 7 in the third period which finished with the Mustangs up by seven, 40-33.

Keeping the momentum, Medina opened the final period with a 9-2 run to extend the advantage to 14, 49-35. Lilleby, Demmer, Honesty Hill and Angel Mulcahy all contributed points to that scoring spurt.

Roy-Hart could get no closer than seven after that as Ariel Smith had two late baskets and Mulcahy one to help the Mustangs lock up the win.

Lilleby finished with 14, Demmer 12, Moss and Hill 9, Smith 8 and Mulcahy 4 for the Mustangs.

Courtney Aquilina scored 11 and Lila Brigham and Kylie McOmber 10 each to pace the Lady Rams as Adella Dukes added 9, Madison DiNieri 4 and Juliana Terwilliger 3.

Roy-Hart led 10-7 at the end of the first period and the contest was deadlocked at 19-19 at the half.

Medina and Roy-Hart are now both 2-4 in N-O action.

Notre Dame 64, Holley 28
Notre Dame defeated Holley 64-28 in a Genesee Region League game as Emma Sisson scored 14 and Gianna Falleti 13 to lead the way.

Alivia Wolf scored 13 and Samantha Bates 12 to lead Holley.
