Last year it was record cold on the holiday

It will be gusty today with a high wind warning in effect from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. tonight, with southwest winds from 25 to 35 miles per hour, and gusts up to 60 mph. The high wind warning includes Orleans County and most of Western New York. The high will be near 56 degrees today.

On Thanksgiving Day, there is a chance for rain and snow showers in the morning. It will become mostly sunny with a high near 38, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

That is quite a contrast from year ago on Thanksgiving when the temperatures were in the teens for most of the day. Buffalo reached a high of 20 on Thanksgiving in 2018, which was the lowest high temperature ever recorded on Thanksgiving in Buffalo.
