Claudia Tenney received the most votes in Orleans County among three candidates in a Republican primary for the newly drawn 24th Congressional District.

Tenney received 564 votes (63.2%) to 277 for Mario Fratto (31.0%) and 52 for George Phillips (5.8%).

Tenney is currently in Congress representing the 22nd District. Tenney is from Utica but has purchased a home in Canandaigua to be in the new 24th, which covers about a dozen counties, stretching from Niagara, to the GLOW counties and part of the Finger Lakes and North Country.

The 24th Congressional District includes part of Orleans – the towns of Albion, Barre, Ridgeway, Shelby and districts 2 and 3 in Clarendon.

Of those 6,059 Republicans who were eligible to vote, 896 cast ballots today and through early voting – a 14.8 percent turnout.
