Team Buffalo gains Hoops Festival semis; Cooper reaches slam dunk competition finals

Buffalo continued its winning ways in the first game of the BCANY Hoops Festival today, defeating Mid-Hudson 78-67 in a game that was close throughout. Noah Hutchins led the way with 30 points for the victors.

Buffalo then however hit a roadblock in the form of the undefeated Central New York team. Central features six players with Division 1 basketball offers, including Buddy Boeheim, son of Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim. Central defeated Buffalo 97-73, as Medina High senior Jalin Cooper scored 8 points in defeat.

Despite the loss, Buffalo advanced to the semifinals as the No. 2 seed from Pool B, and will take on Pool A  No. 1 seed Rochester at noon.

Central and Hudson Valley will play in the other semifinal, also at noon. The championship game will follow immediately after at 1:30 p.m.
