Surging Purple Eagles outdual Cheektowaga
Making it four wins in a row, Albion outpointed host Cheektowaga 48-34 in a B2 Division game this evening.
Albion jumped out to a 14-8 first quarter lead on a 17 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Amari Jones to Javon Jones, a 59 yard punt return by Javon Jones and a two-point conversion pass from Amari Jones to Kwame Riley.
The Purple Eagles maintained a 27-14 lead at the half as Amari Jones hooked up with Javon Jones for an 85 yard touchdown pass and also recovered a fumble for another TD. Corleone Plain added the extra point kick after the second TD.
Amari Jones had a 6 yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion pass to Javon Jones for Albion’s only scoring in the third quarter which ended with the Purple Eagles up 35-22.
The Purple Eagles put a lock on the victory with a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter on a fumble recovery by Riley and a 59 yard run by Amari Jones. Plain added the PAT kick after the final score.
Amari Jones had 202 yards passing and 85 rushing on the evening while Javon Jones had 122 yards receiving.
Albion is now 3-2 in the division and 4-2 overall while Cheektowaga is 2-2, 3-3.
Pembroke 58, Holley 16
Pembroke downed visiting Holley 58-16 to improve to 5-1 in the 8 Man Division.
Tyson Totten had 188 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns to lead the Dragons.
Hunter Smith scored both Holley touchdowns on runs of 42 and 4 yard. Quarterback Destin Kuyal ran for one two-point conversion and passed to Vinny Golisano for the other.
Holley is now 2-4.
