Sub zero temps, wind causes sports postponements

Frigid sub zero temperatures combined with strong winds caused the closing of area schools today thus wiping out over a dozen high school sports events scheduled for this evening.

The Niagara-Orleans League postponements include the following boys and girls basketball games: Medina vs. Albion, Barker vs. CSAT, Newfane vs. Roy-Hart and Akron vs. Wilson along with the swim meets matching Albion vs. Medina, Roy-Hart vs. Akron and Newfane vs. Barker.

The Genesee Region League postponements include the Kendall vs. Lyndonville girls basketball game as well as the Attica vs. Lyndonville, Kendall vs. Byron-Bergen and Alexander vs. Holley wrestling matches.

Girls Basketball

Lima Christian 38, Holley 18
Jade Underwood scored 8 points and Nicole Blackburn 6 for Holley in the Lady Hawks 38-18 non league loss at Lima Christian Monday evening.
