Unable to overcome an early 20-0 deficit, Medina/Lyndonville dropped a 28-8 decision to Lackawanna this evening in a B-3 Division game at Vets Park.

Undefeated (3-0, 4-0) Lackawanna jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on touchdown  runs of 10 yards by Jakwon Ingram and 2 yards by Khalil Norton.

The Steelers upped the advantage to 20-0 three minutes into the second quarter on a 27 yard touchdown run by Norton.

Medina/Lyndonville did cut the deficit to 20-8 on a 7 yard touchdown pass from Izaiah Rhim to Jalin Cooper with five minutes to go in the half.  Rhim also hooked up with Cooper for the two-point conversion pass.

However, Medina/Lyndonville could not find the end zone again.

Earlier in the first quarter the Mustangs did get to the Lackawanna 25 after  54 yard pass completion from Rhim to Mason Lewis but had the drive stall out on downs as a bad snap on fourth down resulted in a 16 yard loss.

Lackawanna upped the lead to 28-8 on a 27 yard touchdown run by Northon with 1:35 remaining in the third period.  That Steelers score was set up by the first of Noble Smith’s 2 pass interceptions in a span of just 21 seconds.

The Mustangs failed to get inside the Steelers 30 yard line in the second half.

The loss drops Medina/Lyndonville to 1-2 in the division and 2-2 overall.
