Stauss to play football at Mercyhurst

Albion High senior Steven Stauss has given a verbal commitment to play football at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa.
Stauss, a three-year two way starting lineman for the Purple Eagles, plans on majoring in Business at Mercyhurst which competes in the NCAA Division II level.
A two-time first team B-North Division All-Star and a second team All-Western New York honoree this past fall, Stauss had 78 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery in his senior season for the Purple Eagles.
A finalist this past fall for the Trench Award, which honors Western New York’s top lineman, Stauss will finalize his commitment when he signs a national letter of intent on national signing day in early February.
